Good Relations in the spotlight at bric Conference
22 August 2014
The transferable learning obtained through creating and maintaining a robust Good Relations strategy within one of Northern Ireland’s most challenging environments will be shared at a free conference next month.
Organised and hosted by the EU PEACE III funded Building Relationships in Communities (bric) Programme, the ‘Reflections on Success’ conference will be held in the Holiday Inn, Belfast on September 16.
The free event will highlight the challenges, rewards and experiences of the project as it set about ensuring Good Relations became a core feature of the work of the Housing Executive. The conference will also feature insights from those who designed, implemented and participated in the pioneering initiative as well as a number of interactive activities.
Speaking ahead of the conference, Kerry McIvor, bric Programme Manager, said:
“The last four years of the bric Programme have been enormously successful in helping to instil Good Relations throughout the Housing Executive, its staff and the residents it serves.
“This event is the perfect occasion for us to look back over that time, celebrate the successes, reflect on the lessons learned and share the wealth of information gathered over the years with other organisations and individuals that will be able to benefit from it.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about the value of Good Relations and the positive impacts it can have on your work, social and personal environments to join us at the conference.”
The bric Programme is a unique collaborative project between the Housing Executive, Rural Development Council and TIDES Training that works to break down physical, social and other perceived barriers experienced by residents and Housing Executive staff within the deeply segregated social housing sector in Northern Ireland.
Utilising the collective and individual skills, experience and expertise of these partners, the bric Programme developed a robust Good Relations Strategy that is currently being promoted in 88 social housing locations across Northern Ireland through a variety of initiatives that work to improve the lives of all of those involved in them.
The ‘Reflections on Success’ conference will be in the Holiday Inn, Ormeau Avenue on September 16th from 9.30am to 1.30pm. The event is free to attend and includes lunch and refreshments. Please note places are limited.
To register to attend please contact Jonathan Walmsley by telephone 028 8676 6980 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org by September 5th.
