RYE Case Study - South Tyrone Auctions

Allister grew up in a rural area and continues to live in a rural area where he is currently involved in several community groups.  He attended the RYE workshops in Roughan Hall Ballygawley and following completion was referred to the local enterprise agency who provided him with a Business Plan.

The auction house is open every Thursday night at 7pm, and holds auctions in their heated 4,000sq ft auction rooms.  They specialise in many items ranging from; furniture, house clearance, liquidation stock, antiques, office equipment, small machinery, tools and much more. Although a relatively new auction house the auctioneers working in South Tyrone Auctions have a combined 55 years of experience in auctioneering and so bring their valuable knowledge to this new venture.

Allister is passionate about online marketing including social media, SMS and email marketing and hopes to develop / expand his business further by using social marketing as a tool.

Allister said:

“My business is currently the only auction house in County Tyrone.  I believe in offering my customers products that are affordable and of good quality.  I aim to buy and sell items that can be recycled and reused as I am conscious of reducing unnecessary waste.

“Services available to my customers will include a collection and delivery, online sales and viewing beforehand.  It is affordable, friendly and contactable, offering high standards of customer service.

 “I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the RYE Programme, I personally found the RYE workshops rewarding and refreshing and it has certainly ignited a desire to look at things differently.”

Olga Gallagher, Director of RYE said;

“Allister is an active member within his local community and we were delighted when he contacted us to enquire about the RYE programme, which was delivered in Roughan Hall, Ballygawley.

“Coming from a business background Allister was aware of the benefits of the programme and by completing the workshops he was referred to the local Enterprise Agency who provided him with a Business Plan.  This is an important document which will allow Allister to approach financial institutions or funders to assist him financially with his business.

“We would like to congratulate Allister on his vision and sincerely wish him well for the future with his business.”
