RYE Case Study - Jordan Agri
Graeme Jordan comes from a farming background and grew up on a farm outside Moneymore. From a young age Graeme always enjoyed working alongside his father and grandfather tending to the livestock, working the land and carrying out necessary work to outbuildings on site.
Since leaving education Graeme has had various jobs within the construction industry where he gained vital work experience on numerous construction sites, as well as working on large scale farms in New South Wales, Australia and New Zealand.
After returning home from New Zealand Graeme registered as self-employed and started completing jobs for private individuals. He has over 12 years experience in farming withrecognised qualifications in operating machinery. As his reputation has grown for delivering quality workmanship so too have his contracts for business.
“Coming from a farming background I have firsthand experience of the issues and problems farmers encounter. I have identified a gap in the market where larger engineering firms are reluctant to price. My prices are competitive due to fewer overheads and my motto is ‘no job is too big or small. I offer a professional and quality service which includes jobs such as farmwork, fabrication, corrugated and box profile, erection of sheds for livestock, shuttering (stronger alternative to building blocks), expansion of existing buildings & reroofing, laying concrete tanks and silo floors (new and existing). These examples are not definitive and other types of work can be considered.”
“I would like to thank the RDC for the opportunity in attending RYE workshops and the Master class on finance which I believe has helped me in many ways. Since attending these workshops RDC has helped me design and brand my logo as well as refer me to Cookstown Enterprise Agency to discuss a Business Plan.
“This support has been invaluable and I would highly recommend any young person who is interested in self employment to contact Gillian or Gail to find out more on the programme.”
Olga Gallagher, Director RYE said;
“Graeme attended the RYE workshops and Master class and we believe that he has used the information to better equip himself to compete within this ever growing industry. We are delighted that Graeme’s business is developing and we wish him well for the future”.
