RYE Case Study - Gemma Bradley Singer Songwriter
Music runs through the veins of Gemma Bradley a 19 year old who lives in Draperstown, Co. Derry who is currently studying Songwriting and Professional Muscianship at BIMM, Dublin whilst working as both a Rural Key Project Intern and Guitar Tutor at Glasgowbury, Draperstown.
A talented musician Gemma enjoys playing the guitar, singing, making music, gigging and jamming with her friends.
She has had the privilege of performing at prestigious festivals such as Glasgowbury, Foyle Folk Festival, Culture Tech, Women of the World Festival, the Red Sails Festival, RTE's Other Voices Music Trail and Stendhal Festival. In 2013 Gemma was a finalist in the IMRO Christie Hennessy Song Writing Competition for which she co-wrote a song with Paddy Nash, 'The Old Country'.
Accolades to date include the 'Best Youth/Under 18' category of the City of Culture/Resonate music video contest in December 2013 with her song 'Wicker Men'. This song was also voted best song by the judges at the 2014 Irish Youth Music Awards. She reached the final of the Big Music Project (a UK wide competition in conjunction with the Brit Awards and The Big Lottery) held at the Indigo at the O2 in London in February 2015 where she impressed a panel of industry judges with her unique vocal and song writing abilities.
Gemma released her debut single ‘Wicker Men’ in February 2015 and released her first EP ‘Firewalk’ in March 2015.
