North West Regional College host Global Entrepreneurship Week
To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week #Makeithappen a special Rural Youth Entrepreneurship workshop took place at North West Regional College Limavady on Thursday 17th November 2015.
Global Entrepreneurship Week aims to inspire people through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship. Each year it plays a critical role in encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to consider starting up their own business.
Funded by DARD under the Tackling Rural Poverty Social Isolation, Rural Youth Entrepreneurship is delivered in partnership by the Rural Development Council and Advantage. RYE workshops unlocked the entrepreneurial potential of young people by inspiring them to get creative. Students picked up business tips, received one to one support, learnt new techniques, looked at case studies and even got the chance to pitch their idea in front of a ‘Dragons Den’ panel.
Olga Gallagher, Director RDC said;
“Through the RYE programme we incorporate a strong practical dimension and the philosophy of 'learning by doing' is applied throughout the workshops. We know that lots of young people have ideas that could make life better, and many people have dreamed of being their own boss. Global Entrepreneurship Week is a good opportunity to encourage young people to seize the opportunity and make it happen. Well done to all the students that participated.”
