The Rural Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (RYE) is an awareness raising and developmental programme for young people aged between 16 – 30 years living in disadvantaged rural areas. Its focus is on undertaking outreach activities to engage with young people to consider the potential of enterprise development and self-employment through a series of workshops, networking events and interactive online tools.

During the workshops they learnt new techniques on how rural businesses can be successful.  Their ideas ranged from farm diversification, finance, agri contractor, gym instructor and ergonomics.  Participants travelled from Toomebridge, Desertmartin, Moneymore and as far as Dromara.

 Olga Gallagher, Director said:

“The RYE programme is free and is a great opportunity for young people to see at first hand if self employment could be the right choice for them.

“I commend these young people for making the effort in attending the workshops especially when they have other commitments be it work, family or attending school.

“We hope the workshops have inspired them and wish them well in whatever career path they decide to embark upon’.
