Who we work with
The International Fund for Ireland (the Fund) was set up by the British and Irish Governments in 1986 and is an independent international organisation which aims to promote social advance and to encourage, dialogue between nationalists and unionists throughout Ireland.
At its core, the Fund’s mission has been to tackle the underlying causes of sectarianism and violence and to build reconciliation between people, within and between communities in Ireland, North and South. That mission has not changed.
The Fund is supported by contributions from the United States of America, the European Union, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
As part of the Fund’s new strategy ‘Sharing this Space 2006-2010’ the Northern Ireland Rural Development Council (RDC) act as the Fund’s Delivery Agent managing a number of programmes on the Funds behalf within Rural and Urban areas. The new strategy marks a significant change of direction for the Fund, moving its focus away from economic regeneration to reconciliation. This means that a number of the Fund’s historic funding programmes are now closed to new applications. As an implementing agent for the Fund, RDC will work to develop and support community projects that meet the Funds objectives.
Community Based Economic & Social Regeneration Programme (CBESR)
The CBESR Programme’s budget is currently fully allocated. RDC is presently compiling a list of those interested in this programme and will be in contact should further funds become available.
