NIEL’s 2010 Annual Conference
27 May 2010
NIEL invite you to their Annual Conference entitled 'Northern Ireland’s Freshwater Environment: Rivers don’t Run Free!' on Wednesday 23 June 2010 from 08:45 – 14:00 (AGM follows) in AFBI, Hillsborough.
Northern Ireland Environment Link’s annual conference and environmental stakeholder forum this year will be looking at the importance of our freshwater environment in Northern Ireland. We hope to help develop the knowledge base on the issues affecting our freshwater environment and explore ways in which environmental NGOs can play a positive role in improving the quality of this valuable resource. The conference will focus in particular on the recently published Northern Ireland River Basin Management Plans and the opportunity for and importance of NGO involvement at the local level in each river basin area if we are to see an improvement in the condition of our water.
Given the current economic climate we recognise the need to achieve an inclusive integrated approach between government and a wide range of stakeholders if we are to achieve the protection, improvement and sustainable use of the water environment in line with our European commitments. The conference will therefore hope to develop a balanced set of recommendations for working in partnership to promote healthier water environments. A copy of the agenda is available to download.
