FINDING YOUR PLACE

08 December 2009

For those aged 18 – 30 with an interest in effective communication, resolving conflict, and personal development, the Belfray Country Inn was the place to be on Tuesday 8th December.

YMCA Ireland (Donegal) & Londonderry YMCA have partnered to deliver a programme of activity on a cross-community and cross-border basis. The partnership project received financial assistance of €208,832 from the International Fund for Ireland.

Attending the event Mr Winston Patterson, Board Member of the International Fund for Ireland said: “ The Finding Your Place Project has been supported through the International Fund for Ireland’s Integrating Community Organisations Programme which is designed to help community organisations to co-operate on a cross-border and/or cross community basis. The Project fits very well with the ethos of the Integrating Community Organisations Programme.

“While the International Fund for Ireland provided financial support for the Project, the vision for the Project was inspired by the YMCA – and I would like to thank all involved from the YMCA because the Project has only been made possible due to their hard work, dedication, perseverance and commitment.

“The International Fund for Ireland is delighted to be associated with this Project, and I have no doubt that the participants and local communities will reap the benefits for many years to come – long after the International Fund for Ireland ceases to exist.”

Speaking on behalf of YMCA Ireland (Donegal) & Londonderry YMCA Geoff Hamilton (Joint Management Group Member) said: “We are delighted that we have been able to get this worthwhile programme up and running as it impacts the lives of community organizations, youth work providers and their participants in a community education process which they participate in together. Nothing can better such cross-border learning as what often is done separately shows benefit from such partnership”
