Northern Ireland Housing Conference 2012

The Northern Ireland Housing Conference, now in its fifth year, has firmly established itself as the annual conference event for Northern Ireland’s housing sector. The 2012 conference will once again bring together all the key players, both from within the local housing sector and those from further afield with an interest in housing in Northern Ireland. It provides a unique opportunity for all those operating within the sector to come together for a day’s networking and discussion.

The conference will take a wide-ranging and strategic look at the local housing sector. One of the major themes examined at the conference will be the impact of new welfare reforms, which have begun to come into place since January 2012 and which have been described as the most radical shake-up of the social security system in over 40 years - Northern Ireland’s benefit recipients are estimated to lose more than £600 million per year by 2014-15. Another significant issue addressed will be that of financing social housing, which remains a major challenge in light of reducing government budgets.
