Teambuilding Day at the Share Centre for the Youth For Peace Project

07 April 2011
Saturday April 2nd saw young people definitely “Moving Forward Together”, as they took part in a Teambuilding Day at the Share Centre Lisnaskea. The Youth for Peace - Moving Forward Together Project is a partnership between Youth Work Ireland-Monaghan, Dee St Community Centre and Clones Erne East Partnership.
The day saw the completion of the projects Single Identity Programme, which saw young people from each community explore their own identity and look at their own community before coming together on a series of residential weekends to explore their joint identity. During the residential weekends, they took part in Diversity Awareness training and looked at symbols and flags and explored their own perspective on community and identity. Over the course of the Single Identity Programme they looked at Similarities and Differences between the communities and discovered that as teenagers they have a lot more in common than they might have thought! Over 60 young people aged 12 to 25 participated in the Single Identity Programme and this culminated in a Team Building Day in the Share Centre in Lisnaskea on April 2nd. The day involved young people from the different areas leading the entire group in icebreakers and team building activities and they also took part in wall climbing and banana boating. It was an excellent day, well received by all and paves the way for more events where the participants can develop their communication and cooperation skills.
