27 February 2014
Rural Development Minister Michelle O'Neill has met with a number of stakeholders to discuss the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020.
Speaking after the meeting with representatives from the Rural Community Network, Rural Development Council and local Rural Support Networks, the Minister said: “My Department currently provides around £1.2 million a year in support of community development in rural areas. The success of this investment to date is largely due to a close working relationship between the Department, local Networks and regional organisations.”
Outlining her position on the new Rural Development Programme the Minister said: “It is important that I can develop a rural development programme that balances the needs of all rural sectors and that I can allocate funds accordingly. I welcome the support of the rural community and voluntary sector towards this goal.”
